Keeping Our Community Connected to Its Schools. Engage with the public and parents at neighborhood meetings.
Too often, people become involved with the school district only when there’s a controversy. I’d like to change that. Strong schools are built through ongoing communication, transparency, and community partnership. Whether you’re a parent, retiree, business owner, taxpayer, or community volunteer, your perspective matters. My goal is to make it easier for people to stay informed, share feedback, and help shape the future of our schools before problems become crises.”
One thing I’ve observed is that many people care deeply about our schools, but like most families and community members, they’re busy. As a result, they often don’t engage with the school district until there’s a controversy or a major decision that directly affects them. I don’t see that as a lack of interest—I see it as a communication challenge. I believe the school board and district leadership have a responsibility to create more opportunities for meaningful, two-way communication and to make it easier for people to stay informed and provide input before decisions are made. Strong schools are built on trust, and trust grows when people feel heard, respected, and included in the conversation.
Our district is facing important challenges, including enrollment trends and facility needs, and those issues affect the entire community, not just families with children currently in school. That’s why I want to strengthen partnerships with parents, retirees, local businesses, community organizations, and taxpayers. We have tremendous talent, experience, and goodwill in our community. If we invite people into the conversation, listen carefully to their ideas, and work together on solutions, I believe we can build stronger schools, make better decisions, and create a district that our entire community is proud to support. The goal isn’t simply more participation—it’s building lasting relationships that help our schools and students succeed for years to come.
